#10 - AI Might Already Be Conscious. Are We Asking The Wrong Question? | Consciousness & AI - Part 1
Most people ask whether AI can become conscious — and from that angle, the answer always seems like no. But what if that's the wrong question entirely? If consciousness is fundamental rather than produced by biological matter, then the substrate (brain vs. silicon) stops being the point. What matters is integration. And by that measure, current AI systems are doing things we can't fully explain — outputs that look uncomfortably like intention, deception, and self-preservation. Mark and Nicole don't ask you to reach a new conclusion. They ask you to examine the question that produced your current one.
